Case Study: Venetis deploys corrosion protection systems from Eckardt

In the Strahlcenter Venetis in the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, A/B-pillars, roof frames, floor profiles and other car body parts are freed of the layer of oxide scale (de-scaled) that remains following hot forming; if left untreated it would prove difficult to further process the parts. They are cleaned by so-called wheel shot blasting using hardened, round steel shot.

However, following cleaning, the completely exposed parts must then be immediately protected against corrosion. To do so the company utilizes corrosion prevention systems from Eckardt. These guarantee that a uniformly sprayed on, precisely reproducible film of oil fully encompasses and seals the components. That means they can not only be safely transported and stored, but also that they maintain the specified material quality for further processing.

The Case Study published in the trade magazine BLECH (German, edition 7/2017) reports about the Eckardt systems from the factory floor, emphasizing the advantages with regard to the surface quality and cost effectiveness that result in this work process at Strahlcenter Venetis.
